HR Business Partner

CityVet is a leading, branded and non-branded network of 24 full-service veterinary centers.  We need a high energy, field focused individual to join our family and partner with Regional Operations Leaders to help facilitate positive employee relations, communication and great people results. This role will act as an advisor for escalated employee relations issues, support workplace investigations where needed, and partner with operations to help build and support programs to improve staffing, retention, and engagement throughout our practices. This position will be based in Dallas but may require some travel.     

Our ideal hire will have a proven track record in employee relations support, implementing people strategies, and a passion for nurturing trusting relationships.  The perfect candidate is not looking for a traditional corporate role, but is one who prefers to interface directly, enjoys being out in the field and connecting with people.    

Core Responsibilities for this Role:

  • Coordinate with operations team to identify needs
  • Act as first line of support to Operations Leaders to consult on escalated employee relations concerns; support workplace investigations as needed and   provide findings and recommendations
  • Help ensure that disciplinary action is consistently and fairly administered
  • Work with Operations Leaders to follow up on and help resolve direct employee complaints
  • Monitor turnover, exit interviews, and employee surveys; provide targeted support and recommendations to help improve results and ensure a great   employee experience
  • Provide training and communication on issues that will help promote employee engagement, retention, and positive employee relations
  • Ensure that all employee benefits and other programs designed to support our people are well communicated and understood
  • Assist in identifying support staff recruiting strategies that will help drive better hiring results; attend recruiting events as needed
  • Help monitor employee safety and compliance programs
  • Facilitate communication to support effective change management 
  • Assist with the development of policies, procedures, and programs to support a great work environment
  • Help further diversity and inclusion efforts
  • Monitor center HR compliance in assigned areas
  • Other generalist responsibilities as business needs dictate

A Great Candidate for this Role will have:

  • Proven success as an employee relations/HR business partner in an operationally sensitive environment with a dispersed workforce (5+ years)
  • Knowledge of compliance, labor laws and employment trends
  • Experience managing workplace investigations
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
  • The willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing business needs 
  • Highly professional and relatable demeanor
  • Resourcefulness and the ability to work independently and self-manage
  • Thoughtful and effective coaching skills
  • Excellent follow up and follow through
  • Ability to travel as needed, both planned and on short notice when needed
  • BS in HR Management, Business, Communications, or related field (or equivalent work experience, PHR/SPHR certification, etc.)
