We’re Honored to Be Named the #1 Veterinarian in Surprise for 2026!
We’re truly honored to be voted the #1 Veterinarian in Surprise for 2026 by our client reviews, and even more grateful for the trust you place in us every day.
We are a local clinic in Surprise, Arizona, proudly owned by Dr. Jonathan Bycroft. Thank you for supporting our neighborhood practice and for trusting Dr. Bycroft and our team with your pets’ care.

This was our first time at CityVet in Surprise. Our dog Pixie can be nervous but her vet tech, Janessa, made her feel safe and comfortable. She did lunge at Dr Linehan but calmed down quickly. Sorry Doc! The care was outstanding and service was very friendly. We found our new vet home for our dog!
Susan and Dr. Bycroft were wonderful. They gave Pixie a thorough exam and were able to perform blood work and a fecal analysis in their on-site lab, with results the very same day. Thankfully, everything turned out well.
We are so grateful for the kindness, compassion, and excellent care we received. We highly recommend City Vet to anyone looking for a veterinary team that truly cares.
Great news—they’ll be open 7 days a week starting in August 2026!

Dogs sleep a lot—but how much sleep is actually normal?
The answer depends on their age, breed, activity level, and overall health. While puppies and senior dogs often need more rest, a sudden increase in sleep or changes in your dog`s energy could be a sign that something isn`t right.
Knowing the difference between normal napping and a potential health concern can help you catch problems early and keep your pup feeling their best.
Read our latest blog to learn:
• How many hours of sleep dogs really need
• When extra sleep is completely normal
• Signs it`s time to schedule a veterinary visit

When a dog destroys everything, the cause usually falls into one of three categories: intense boredom (a need for activity), panic when left alone (a need for security, often seen as dog destructive behavior when left alone), or a natural instinct to chew or dig without a proper outlet. Identifying the driving need is the key to finding the right solution, especially if dog anxiety destructive behavior is part of the picture.
