Those tiny teeth hurt more than they have any right to.
If your kitten is ambushing your ankles, they`re not being mean — they`re being a kitten.
Keep a wand toy within reach and swap it in the second they go for your hand. When play gets rough, stop and walk away — they learn fast that teeth end the fun. And watch for the tells that they`re overstimulated: tail flicking, ears back, pupils blown wide. That`s your cue to take a break.
If biting starts suddenly or only when you touch one spot, it could signal pain, and you should talk to your veterinarian.

Did you know?!
Each nostril samples air independently, letting the brain compare inputs and work out which direction a scent came from.

If there`s no pet in our arms, that`s not us!
Is it healthy to snuggle with your pet?
Yes — for most people, cuddling with a healthy, parasite-free pet is safe and comes with real benefits. Close contact with pets has been linked to lower stress, reduced blood pressure, and stronger bonding for both of you. Snuggling can also help owners catch problems early: new lumps, hot spots, ear odor, or flinching at a touch are all worth checking with your veterinarian.

Did you know?!
Their eyes are built for spotting movement at a distance, leaving a blind spot at chin level — which is why a cat will paw around for a treat sitting directly in front of it.

What’s it really like to work at CityVet? Ask a Practice Manager who almost left veterinary medicine.
Clinton was ready to walk away from the field. Then a role at CityVet opened up — and it lined up with the values he already had.
Veterinary professionals — DVMs, techs, assistants, client care, practice managers — this is your kind of culture.

Why does my dog nibble on me?
Short answer: it`s usually communication, not aggression. That gentle "corn cobbing" with the front teeth almost always means one of four things:
– Affection: social grooming, the same way dogs groom packmates to bond
– Play: mouthing your hand is an invitation, not a bite
– Teething: puppies under ~7 months chew to soothe sore gums
– Bite inhibition: they`re learning how much pressure is okay
When to pay closer attention: a stiff body and hard stare, a low growl or snarl, or pressure that actually hurts. Those are stress signals, not play.
The fix for nuisance nibbling is redirection — the second you feel teeth, trade your hand for a chew toy. It teaches what to do instead of just saying no.
