Why do cats chirp?

Cats chirp — also called chattering or chittering — as a short, high-pitched burst of sound triggered by focused excitement, usually when they spot prey like a bird outside the window.

What cat chirping usually means:
- Excitement or frustration while watching prey they can't reach
- A possible attempt to mimic bird calls as a hunting strategy
- Friendly greeting or attention-seeking toward you
- Play mode — many cats chirp mid-pounce at a toy

Is it normal? Yes. Chirping is a healthy part of a cat's vocal range, and kittens do it too. But if the chirping is persistent and paired with stress signals or other behavior changes, it's worth a vet visit.

Best way to respond: give them something to hunt — a prey-like toy, dedicated play time, and a window with a good view.

Dogs sleep a lot—but how much sleep is actually normal?

The answer depends on their age, breed, activity level, and overall health. While puppies and senior dogs often need more rest, a sudden increase in sleep or changes in your dog's energy could be a sign that something isn't right.
Knowing the difference between normal napping and a potential health concern can help you catch problems early and keep your pup feeling their best.

When a dog destroys everything, the cause usually falls into one of three categories: intense boredom (a need for activity), panic when left alone (a need for security, often seen as dog destructive behavior when left alone), or a natural instinct to chew or dig without a proper outlet. Identifying the driving need is the key to finding the right solution, especially if dog anxiety destructive behavior is part of the picture.
