Meet Dr. Deborah Shanks, lead veterinarian and partner behind CityVet Lake Worth. Since graduating veterinary school in 2013, she has proudly cared for pets and the families who love them across DFW. Dr. Shanks prides herself on her dedication and ability to go above and beyond for each and every animal and her goal is to make sure every pet is living their best life. At home, she’s a mom to three daughters, two dogs, and one very opinionated cat—so life is busy, loud, and full of love! Opening her own practice has been a long-time dream, and with the support of a team that shares her heart for compassionate care, she is incredibly excited to welcome the community to CityVet Lake Worth.

We’re so excited to officially welcome Dr. Barbie Siddiq, DVM to our clinic to offer integrative veterinary care!
With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Barbie specializes in:
– Acupuncture
– Chiropractic Care
– Laser Therapy
These therapies can complement traditional veterinary medicine and may benefit pets dealing with arthritis, chronic pain, mobility issues, injuries, neurologic conditions, recovery and rehabilitation, wound healing, immune system support, and even certain behavioral changes—all with the goal of helping our patients feel and function their very best.
We’ve already had the opportunity to have Dr. Barbie treat several of our patients (and some of our own pets!), and the response has been incredible. We’ve received rave reviews from both our patients and their pet parents, and we are so excited to make these services regularly available to our CityVet Lake Worth families!
For now, Dr. Barbie will be joining us at CityVet Lake Worth every other Tuesday—and as interest grows, we hope to offer even more appointment days in the future!

Hazel was the sweetest little patient for her spay! 💕 She did an amazing job, and we couldn’t get over how adorable she looked in her little recovery bodysuit!
Not only is it incredibly cute, but it also helps protect her incision while she heals—keeping her comfortable and helping to prevent licking or chewing.

The last few days have been filled with kitties… and do we consider that a blessing??? YOU BET! 🐱❤️
We absolutely adore our felines, and we strive to make every visit as stress-free, comfortable, and positive as possible. Because let’s be honest… the vet doesn’t have to be scary! Kitty, Teddy, and Tux all made appearances and even got to say hello to our very own cat-crazy manager, Ashley! 😻 Everyone knows she loves her cats!

Luna stole our hearts this most recent weekend by walking into the clinic like she owns CityVet Lake Worth 😍😍😍
She kicked back and got comfortable quickly with her technician Ashley and Veterinarian Dr Hurst!! Even though her ears were bothering her she was such a good baby for her exam and we were able to get her all fixed up. We are so happy we get to continue to see this lovely, social, and distinguished little girl

Meet Junior, the most handsome young Maine Coon kitten!
When Junior first came to see us, we noticed he had a significant amount of gingivitis—especially unusual for such a young kitten. Given his age and breed, Dr. Shanks suspected juvenile gingivitis/periodontitis, a condition that can progress quickly without early treatment.
To give Junior the best chance at a healthy mouth, Dr. Shanks performed a professional dental cleaning, gently removed excess inflamed gum tissue, and applied both a dental sealant and Periovive®, a hyaluronic acid gel that helps support gum healing.
But this amazing result isn’t just because of what happened in the hospital—it’s also because of Junior’s incredibly dedicated owner. Their commitment to daily at-home dental care has made all the difference, and it truly shows.

Meet Dr. Hurst, a small animal veterinarian since 2015. She is passionate about preventative medicine and keeping your furry family members thriving. She knows that a pet isn’t just an animal, they’re a best friend, and she has dedicated her career to supporting that special bond. When she isn’t in the clinic, you can find her with her husband and two kids, hanging out on their ranchette with their 2 dogs, Bernoulli and Fisher, as well as the family horses Comanche, Darwin, Rou, and Hotshot.
