Meet Dr. Deborah Shanks, lead veterinarian and partner behind CityVet Lake Worth. Since graduating veterinary school in 2013, she has proudly cared for pets and the families who love them across DFW. Dr. Shanks prides herself on her dedication and ability to go above and beyond for each and every animal and her goal is to make sure every pet is living their best life. At home, she’s a mom to three daughters, two dogs, and one very opinionated cat—so life is busy, loud, and full of love! Opening her own practice has been a long-time dream, and with the support of a team that shares her heart for compassionate care, she is incredibly excited to welcome the community to CityVet Lake Worth.

When I called back to ask some follow up questions I spoke to the practice manager, Ashley, who is so kind and patient. She helped me coordinate convenient and practical solutions. Can’t say enough good things about my experience so far.
Dr. Hurst immediately made us feel at home during Memo’s very first appointment. She has such a wonderful bedside manner, was incredibly thorough, and truly took the time to get to know our guy. The moment she sat on the floor with him and lovingly called him “Mehmoe” exactly the way we say it, I knew she genuinely cared. That meant so much to us. 🥹
Dr. Shanks performed Memo’s surgeries (neuter snd stenotic nares and soft palate resection)on Wednesday the 20th, and we simply adore her. Thank you for taking such amazing care of our sweet boy and helping him through a successful surgery day. Your kindness and confidence gave us so much peace during a stressful time. Your constant communication meant the world to us throughout the day.
Ashley welcomed me on my very first phone call and we were able to slide into their schedule. Once Memo and I arrived, she was there to welcomed us. It felt incredible.
Amber is Memo’s first girlfriend and vet tech that loved him as her own. He could feel she loved him. Your bedside manner is truly off the chain, keep up shining. Keep spreading your positivity.
A huge thank you as well to Marissa, who welcomed me into the clinic during my very first call to CityVet Lake Worth. Her customer service skills are phenomenal, and her caring personality immediately stood out.
Olivia was so warm and welcoming during registration, offered us a beverage and placed us in a room.
Crystal took incredible care of Memo throughout the entire day, keeping me updated and comforted every step of the way.
Truly, every single person we encountered was compassionate, professional, and caring. Phenomenal staff. Great crew. Y’all absolutely know what you’re doing, and it shows. Thank you for loving our Memo like he was your own. 💚

To the doctor and nurse, thank you for your patience and for explaining everything so clearly. You made a stressful situation feel much easier to manage, and I felt completely confident in the care my dogs were receiving.

Meet Dr. Hurst, a small animal veterinarian since 2015. She is passionate about preventative medicine and keeping your furry family members thriving. She knows that a pet isn’t just an animal, they’re a best friend, and she has dedicated her career to supporting that special bond. When she isn’t in the clinic, you can find her with her husband and two kids, hanging out on their ranchette with their 2 dogs, Bernoulli and Fisher, as well as the family horses Comanche, Darwin, Rou, and Hotshot.
