Michelle’s veterinary journey started as a CSR at another clinic, where she quickly fell in love with vet med and worked her way into a technician role. 🐾
Since joining our CityVet Queen Creek team, Michelle has brought that same drive with her! She’s always looking for opportunities to learn, grow her skills, and jump in wherever she’s needed. She’s a true team player and someone you can always count on.
And she’s not done learning yet! Michelle has aspirations of becoming an X-ray tech in the future. 🩻✨

🐱 Spaying isn’t just about preventing kittens — it can protect your cat’s health, too.
Here are a few BIG reasons we recommend spaying female cats:
🩷 Lower risk of mammary cancer
Mammary tumors in cats are especially concerning because 80–90% are malignant. Spaying early dramatically reduces the risk—cats spayed before 6 months have been reported to have about a 91% lower risk of developing mammary tumors.
🚨 Prevents pyometra
A pyometra is a serious bacterial infection of the uterus where the uterus can essentially fill with infected fluid/pus. Cats can become very sick very quickly, and treatment often requires emergency surgery. Spaying removes the reproductive organs involved and prevents this potentially life-threatening condition.
🐾 Cats are induced ovulators — wait, what?!
Unlike humans, cats typically ovulate in response to mating. If they don’t mate and ovulate, they can return to heat repeatedly during breeding season. That’s why an intact female cat may seem like she is constantly going into heat—yowling, rolling, rubbing, trying to escape, and attracting every neighborhood tomcat. 😹
Spaying is about more than preventing an unexpected litter. It’s an important part of protecting your cat’s long-term health. 🧡💙

We are SO excited to officially have Dr. Nelson joining our team! 🎉 She’s an incredible addition to our CityVet family, and we can’t wait for all of you (and your pets!) to get to know her.

Dr. Sarah Nelson graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2016 and moved to Arizona in 2017. She loves helping pets in all stages of life, from new kittens to senior dogs! She values low-stress vet visits and compassionate client communication, and has special interests in feline medicine, internal medicine, and abdominal ultrasound. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, yoga, reading, travel, and spending time with her husband, cat (Wally) and dog (Audrey).

Be sure to give Dr. Nelson a big welcome when you see her around the clinic! 🐶🐱🩺

✨ Meet Maddie! ✨

Maddie took a few years off from vet med and then casually came back like she hadn’t missed a single day. 😂👏

She’s a hard worker, always jumps in wherever she’s needed, and is basically our nervous pet whisperer. 🥹🧡 If your pet comes in shaking, hiding, or giving us the “absolutely NOT” eyes—Maddie is your girl.

We’re VERY glad she decided to dust off those scrubs and join our CityVet Queen Creek crew! 🐶🐱🧡

Is your dog constantly scratching, licking their paws, or battling another ear infection? 🐶🌿 It could be allergies!
An estimated 10–20% of dogs are affected by allergies, and they can show up in more ways than just an occasional itch.
Some of the most common culprits include:
🌾 Environmental allergies — pollen, grasses, dust mites & mold
🦟 Flea allergies — even ONE flea bite can cause a major reaction in sensitive dogs
🥩 Food allergies — possible, but actually much less common than many pet owners think!
Signs to watch for:
🐾 Constant paw licking or chewing
👂 Recurrent ear infections
🩹 Red, irritated or inflamed skin
🐕 Frequent scratching, biting or rubbing
🍑 Licking or irritation around the belly, groin or rear end
The good news? Your dog doesn’t have to live itchy. There are multiple ways we can help identify the likely cause, control the itch, treat secondary skin or ear infections, and keep your pup more comfortable.
