We are a local clinic in Coppell, Texas proudly owned by Dr. Jana Bryant. Thank you for supporting our neighborhood practice and for trusting Dr. Bryant and our team with your pets’ care.
Drs. Shelden and Bryant were absolutely exceptional. They provided not only outstanding veterinary care, but also the compassion, patience, and kindness our family needed during an incredibly difficult time. They treated Pongo with such dignity and genuine care, and we always felt that he was in the best possible hands.
When the time came to say goodbye, the staff went above and beyond to help us. We called at the last minute when we knew it was time, and they fit us in without hesitation or questions. They made sure Pongo could pass peacefully without any distress of suffering.
Their compassion during that final visit is something our family will never forget. They gave me the time and space I needed, handled everything with incredible gentleness, and made an unbearably difficult moment as peaceful as it could possibly be.
Veterinary medicine is about much more than treating animals. It is also about caring for families during some of their happiest and hardest moments. Drs. Shelden and Bryant truly exemplify that. We will forever be grateful for the care they gave Pongo and the kindness they showed our family.
If you are looking for a veterinary team that genuinely cares about your pet and treats them like family, we cannot recommend this practice highly enough. Five stars does not begin to express our gratitude.
The most recent episode, Sierra had been vomiting several days, and X-rays showed what looked like a possible blockage. We were close to scheduling surgery, but Dr. Shelden wanted to be certain, and sent us to VCA for an ultrasound to confirm. Turns out surgery wasn’t needed after all.
That willingness to double- check before putting Sierra through an invasive procedure says everything about how much they care. We trust them completely and can’t recommend them enough.
Dr. Bryant and the staff are knowledgeable, compassionate, and take the time to actually listen and explain everything clearly. The facility is clean, modern, and very comfortable, and you can tell they truly care about the animals they treat.
There are plenty of vets closer to Dallas, but the quality of care and personal attention we received at CityVet Coppell makes the drive completely worth it. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet who treats your pets like family! ❤️🐾

Dr. Amy Sheldon and all her amazing team members took the time to send us a heartfelt, handwritten letter shortly after her passing. I can’t express how much it meant to us to receive this from the team that took such good care of her these last few years, and to know how many hearts our Kahlúa touched. Wow! I have never had such incredible customer service from a vet’s office before. Dr. Sheldon completed multiple teeth extractions and a mass removal on our sweet Kahlúa, and both her and the staff were so incredibly kind, reassuring, and communicative during the entire process. How do you stop a cat from scratching the carpet? Redirect the scratching; don’t punish it. Scratching is natural: it keeps claws healthy, marks territory, and stretches muscles.
– Offer a better place to scratch. Put sturdy sisal posts or cardboard scratchers right next to your cat’s favorite carpet spots. Choose a post that’s stable and tall enough for a full stretch.
– Protect problem areas. Doorways, rugs, and carpet edges are common targets. Cover them with secure mats, carpet protectors, or double-sided tape.
– Reward good scratching habits. When your cat starts on the carpet, gently guide them to a scratcher. Reward them right away with treats or praise.
Is the scratching new, excessive, or not stopping even with consistent training? Talk to your local CityVet veterinarian! It can sometimes point to stress, anxiety, or another underlying issue.

– Use a harness, never a collar. A collar puts all the force on your dog’s neck. A well-fitted harness spreads it across the chest.
– Choose a crash-tested restraint. Look for a harness or carrier certified by the Center for Pet Safety.
– Keep your dog in the back seat. Front airbags are designed for adult humans and can seriously injure a pet.

Which fall plants are toxic to dogs and cats?
Fall decor is fun, but some seasonal plants can make pets sick. Here are six to watch for:
– Pumpkins & gourds: Fresh, plain pumpkin is generally safe, but mold on a rotting pumpkin can be toxic.
– Oak leaves & acorns: They contain tannins that can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Acorns can also be a choking or blockage risk.
– Autumn crocus: Every part of the plant is toxic and can cause severe illness.
– Tulips: All parts are toxic, and the bulbs are the most dangerous.
– Chrysanthemums (mums): The flowers, leaves and stems can cause drooling, vomiting and skin irritation.
– Lilies: Every part of a true lily, including the pollen and vase water, can cause kidney failure in cats.
What should you do if your pet eats a toxic plant? Don’t wait for symptoms. Call your nearest CityVet or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 right away, and bring a photo of the plant if you can.

More recently, both of my cats went in for their spays, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything was handled. Dr. Bradley was absolutely wonderful—kind, thorough, and genuinely caring. I really appreciated how comfortable Dr. Bradley made the process and how clearly everything was explained.
The aftercare instructions were detailed and helpful, and I especially appreciated the follow-up afterward to make sure they were doing well. Both cats are doing great, and I’m very grateful for the care they received.
Dr. Bradley and the entire CityVet Chamblee team have been fantastic. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a vet they can truly trust with their pets.

The vet took his time with the examination and answered all of my questions. He gave me a couple of options for treating my dog and kind of spoke to me as if he were treating his dog. That kind of empathy is special and I really appreciated it. Also they didn’t run up the bill with unnecessary tests.

Even their staff for small things like recommending joint supplements for our cats was handled with care. They weren’t just recommending supplements for no reason but to actually improve our cats quality of lives. They’ve even sat on the ground with our girls when they were scared to be on the table in the vet room to examine them. I would recommend City Vet to any one.

Everyone was so kind and helpful, I ended up transferring my other dog to their care (pictured). They are verrry bully breed friendly which is such a relief. It’s not my boys’ fault it’s one of the most common contributions to mixed breeds. The pictures of the owner’s staffies all over the place cut those judgemental looks out of the equation!
I’m really looking forward to having senior care done here for both of them. I feel like we’re in really good hands and I feel confident about the upcoming surgery. Priceless.
The veterinarian performed a very thorough examination and prepared every document required for my dog to travel to Mexico. What impressed me most was their familiarity with the new travel documentation—several other veterinary clinics I contacted were not even aware of the updated requirements.

🔬 Microscope Monday!
Ever wondered what ear mites look like up close? These tiny parasites can cause major irritation in our pets, leading to intense itching, head shaking, redness, and that dark, coffee-ground-like debris in the ears.
This short clip shows ear mites moving around under our microscope! While they’re tiny, they can be very uncomfortable for your pet and are highly contagious between pets.
If your pet is shaking their head, scratching their ears, or you notice unusual ear debris, it’s worth having those ears checked!

Meet Dottie, the adorable "broken Goldendoodle" who is ready to hop into the Halloween season with her bunny ears! Her festive photo was just too cute not to share.
Dottie has a few favorite things: blueberries, ice cookies, and of course, her favorite human… Dad! Mom holds the title of spare human. 😂 She loves to greet her family with a full conversation when they get home and a signature waggle butt that shows just how happy she is!

Feline Friday is looking extra cozy this week thanks to Pearl!
This beautiful Sphynx was all snuggled up in a warm blanket, and honestly, we can’t blame her. Sphynx cats have very little hair to help keep them warm, so cozy blankets and warm spaces are especially important for them. They also need regular skin care since their skin can accumulate oils that a typical coat would normally absorb.
Pearl is a perfect reminder that being hairless doesn’t mean being maintenance-free — it just means you get extra cozy cuddles!

One of the CityVet’s we called said they couldn’t see us but for us to try the Alamo Heights location. I’m so glad we did!!! The staff took in Bruno immediately, they showed so much care and concern for Bruno, as well as for me and my husband. We were so scared and emotional. We had lost a previous bulldog to airway issues, so we were terrified.
They kept our boy, even texted us a picture of him through out the day. Dr Jones called us with updated and then again for discharge care for when we went to go pick him up!!
We will forever be grateful for the love and care we received from Alamo Heights!!! We all got back home safely.

Friday hours :12p-8p 4th of July: 8am-10pm July 5th 12pm-8pm. General Practice will remain open at Alamo Heights on Friday until 6pm.
