For over two years, I was trying to figure out what was going on with my cat. He was struggling with severe cat acne and what eventually turned into noticeable alopecia. At one point, he had lost most of the fur on his stomach and legs, and after seeing three or more vets with no clear answers, I honestly felt stuck and worried.
Since locking in with City Vet Southtown a little over a year ago, everything changed. Dr. Romero took the time to truly look deeper into what was going on and helped us finally get to the root of it. We discovered it wasn’t just one issue, but a combination of separation anxiety, food sensitivities, and hypoallergenic needs. From there, she built a plan that actually worked.
The transformation in my baby boy has been incredible. Seeing him grow his fur back and become more comfortable and healthy again has been such a relief and honestly emotional after everything we went through.
I also want to highlight how kind and attentive the entire clinic is. Every interaction with the front desk staff and techs has been nothing but warm, informative, and genuinely caring. They remember you and your pets by name, and it really feels like they see your animals as family, not just appointments.
I’m so grateful to be part of the Southtown community and to have found a clinic that actually listens, investigates, and cares on this level. I may not know every staff member’s name, but please know you all have made a real difference in my cat’s life.
I’ll be attaching a before-and-after photo because the change speaks for itself. This is far from average care — this is a team that truly shows up for animals.

Update: Within a couple weeks after spaying my dog, my son brought his young dog in for an ear infection and we brought my daughter’s pup in after suffering a horrific freak accident. Thankfully, she’s received wonderful attention and is healing well. So glad we found Southtown CityVet, Dr. Romeo and her great crew!

When a dog destroys everything, the cause usually falls into one of three categories: intense boredom (a need for activity), panic when left alone (a need for security, often seen as dog destructive behavior when left alone), or a natural instinct to chew or dig without a proper outlet. Identifying the driving need is the key to finding the right solution, especially if dog anxiety destructive behavior is part of the picture.

My sweet Chloe crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday after a long health journey. During the nearly 7 months that she was under their care, this team provided not only excellent medical care but also extraordinary compassion.
When Chloe first arrived, she was facing a serious health crisis. Dr. VanDyke gave us options, guidance, and hope when we needed it most. Because of the care she received, I was blessed with precious additional time with my heart pup.
Throughout Chloe’s journey, everyone at the clinic treated her with kindness, patience, and genuine love. They also showed incredible understanding toward an anxious and overwhelmed dog mom who was trying to do everything possible for her beloved baby girl.
What I will remember most is Chloe’s final visit. Despite never being a fan of veterinary offices, she was calm and at peace. The entire team made one of the hardest days of my life more bearable through their compassion and support.
Dr. VanDyke, despite recovering from her own foot surgery, sat on the floor beside me and gave me a long hug as I said goodbye to Chloe. That moment meant more than I can ever express.
I will always be grateful to this team for helping Chloe live with dignity, comfort, and quality of life, and for helping her leave this world surrounded by love.
Thank you for everything you did for my sweet girl.

I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to Roy & Brooke for taking such incredible care of my baby, Dio! They truly went above and beyond while he was boarded for a few nights. I received multiple updates along with the sweetest pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away.

He was suffering from several ailments. I was able to confirm an appointment instantly. The team spent 2+ hours with my cat Banksy explaining their concerns of his condition. The compassion they showed for my cat Banksy was as if he were their animal. The cost of his visit was negligible compared to the service I received. City Vet is by far the best veterinarian office I have ever used.

The doctors get down on the floor to connect with the animals and make them feel more comfortable. It is great to see them put so much care and effort into each visit.
I am very critical about where I take my animals. I do not like them to be taken out of the room to perform tests out of my site and this clinic has the same belief as me. They have not taken my dog out of my site once and it is greatly appreciated.
