Recently, my fur child was experiencing some common tummy issues that had seemingly resolved, but I still had a strong “gut feeling” that something wasn’t quite right. When I shared some of the subtle symptoms behind the initial issues, Dr. C was incredibly patient and collaborative. She helped me navigate potential diagnoses and mapped out a smart, practical starting point for testing that didn’t break the bank.
Thanks to her guidance and willingness to listen to my instincts, my dog was diagnosed with a lifetime condition that is now well-managed and simple to treat. Had I not had Dr. C by our side, I don’t know if we ever would have figured it out.
Throughout the entire process, she always offered clear options and communicated with me regularly. As an added bonus, the clinic is open on weekends and outside of standard working hours, which makes scheduling incredibly easy.

Our pups are fearful and require a little extra TLC; everyone at the office including practice manager, front desk associate, and vet techs have been so sweet, friendly and patient. Dr. Justin Burgin and Dr. Beth Burgin have wonderful “bedside manner”, communicating our pets conditions/treatment options and listening to our questions.
We started routine acupuncture for our arthritic dog and shortly after the first few sessions we noticed physical improvement and added bonus – a healthier appetite! We like to joke that being a stoic, reserved dog, it’s adorable how she looks forward to her sessions with Dr. Beth now. We’ve also had positive experiences with dental cleanings (Dr. Justin’s expertise!), small surgery, and general vet visits. The office is always clean and airy, no overwhelming smells of room fresheners. Highly recommend CityVet Murphy!
Much to my pets’ dismay, I love going there. Every single person in the clinic is exceptionally kind, perceptive, and respectful. One of my dogs is terrified of the vet and “slams on her brakes” at the door. When I alerted the staff, their amazing tech walked right out to the car and gently scooped her up in their arms—and she is a 50-pound dog! The tech carried her both ways, taking their time and respecting her needs completely. My dog was thrilled to get back to the car afterward, but she wasn’t traumatized at all because of how calmly they handled her.
They are straightforward and discuss your options without pushing you into debt. Most importantly, when you are dealing with an aging animal, this is the empathetic group you want standing beside you through those tough decisions.
The name CityVet gave me pause at first due to my thoughts that it would be a corporate-feeling vet, but it’s the absolute antithesis of corporate—it’s a true family vet. Our local family vet retired so we’ve been looking for the right place. The Dr. Burgins and teammates are now a permanent part of our lives!
On top of the stellar care, they do thoughtful extras like holiday hot chocolate bars and fun seasonal photo setups. I even envy how beautifully decorated and perfectly clean their restroom is! I highly recommend CityVet!

I brought my dog, Willy, in today to be seen, and the entire team was welcoming and attentive from the moment we walked through the door. The doctor was super thorough during his exam and took the time to answer all my questions.
To top it off, I found out they offer grooming right in the clinic! I met their groomer while we were there and immediately got Willy on the schedule.
So convenient to have expert veterinary care and grooming under one roof. Highly recommend!
After over 35+ Years, we found ourselves needing to find a new Veterinarian when one of our Dogs (Elly) developed an issue just months after Her last routine check-up. Our prior Vet had since retired and we will just say, things at the place we had been going to for many years had changed.
Based on a referral from a friend that had taken their Pets to Dr. Sandra Welsh for many years, we decided it was time to see if Dr. Welsh was a good fit for our Family.
My wife went online as was able to quickly and conveniently schedule a visit.
When we walked in, the facility was very Clean, Welcoming, and the Team at the front desk very attentive in greeting us.
Once checked in, we were quickly greeted by a Veterinarian Technician that took us to a room. She was very professional and thorough in both asking us questions and listening as we provided information.
Shortly after the Tech. left the room, Dr. Welsh arrived.
After an initial greeting, the attention to detail by the Tech. was evident. Dr. Welsh did not need to rehash a bunch of questions. She had detailed notes provided by the Tech. and we were able to quickly dive into more details without feeling like we had just been through all the initial information already.
As Dr. Welsh started to examine our Dog (15 ½ Years old) she had an excellent “bed side manner”. As she was examining our Girl, she was openly talking to us as to what she was looking for, observing, and asking us additional questions as needed. At no point did the visit seem rushed or the focus strictly on a single symptom / issue without taking into consideration all possible factors.
Once she was done, she was very clear in her thoughts & findings as well as a recommended course of treatment, along with timelines as to what to expect and what to keep an eye on to ensure we started to get our Girl heading in the right direction.
After a quick in house Lab Test to confirm a few of her findings, all needed medications were available on-site and the planned course of treatment was again reviewed to ensure we had no questions.
After Dr. Welsh was done, another Team member came in to review our visit and all related charges where we could talk and settle our bill in private. We did not have to try and conduct business in a lobby where other Pets could create a distraction or a possible tense situation while trying to “check-out”.
We were 100% pleased with our initial visit to City Vet | Marvin and have taken steps to transition both our Dog’s ongoing care to the Team at City Vet.
If you need a Veterinarian or looking to make a change, we highly recommend the Team @ City Vet.
Lastly, we learned in addition to Dr. Sandra Welsh, there are two other Veterinarians on the Team @ City Vet | Marvin.
Dr. Kelly More (30+ years of experience), and Dr. Anna Welsh (that is in an amazing environment to grow and help meet the needs of our Pets well into the future.)
To us, this means a Team of both seasoned and up and coming Veterinarians ready to help not just us, but each other as they care for the wellbeing of our Dogs.
From the moment you walk into the room, you’re met with a warm, genuine personality and a smile that immediately puts both you and your pet at ease. She’s attentive in a way that’s increasingly rare, she never rushes, never makes you feel like she’s watching the clock. She takes her time, gets down to your dog’s level, and treats each animal like they’re her only patient that day.
What really sets her apart is how thoroughly she explains everything. She answers questions in detail and in plain language, so you actually understand what’s going on, what your options are, and why she’s recommending a particular course of action. Her reports are top-notch, clear, detailed, and organized — so you leave with a real record of the visit rather than a few scribbled notes.
She also follows up. Whether it’s checking in after a treatment or making sure a medication is working, she stays engaged well after you’ve left the office. She takes every concern seriously, no matter how small it might seem, and never makes you feel like you’re overreacting as a pet parent.
Finding a vet you trust completely is hard, and Dr. Walsh has earned that trust many times over. My dog is in the best possible hands with her, and I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a caring, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated veterinarian.

Those tiny teeth hurt more than they have any right to.
If your kitten is ambushing your ankles, they`re not being mean — they`re being a kitten.
Keep a wand toy within reach and swap it in the second they go for your hand. When play gets rough, stop and walk away — they learn fast that teeth end the fun. And watch for the tells that they`re overstimulated: tail flicking, ears back, pupils blown wide. That`s your cue to take a break.
If biting starts suddenly or only when you touch one spot, it could signal pain, and you should talk to your veterinarian.

They even have a chiropractor and acupuncturist, Dr Barbie, she comes to the clinic to help treat the patients who need her. She was so kind and very knowledgeable helping put my anxious mind at ease as well as helping my dog feel less pain and encourage healing.
I have multiple animals and have been to 5 veterinary clinics this year due to either an emergency or recheck appointments and was scoping out what clinic I would prefer for my primary clinic and hands down it is this CityVet location. The receptionist are really nice and helpful, the techs have been kind and knowledgeable, the Dr we saw was Dr Shanks, you can really tell she cares deeply and loves her job.

Arizona summers can be tough on our pets—especially their paws. Pavement can become hot enough to cause painful burns in just minutes, even if the air temperature doesn`t seem extreme.
Before every walk, try the 7-second test: place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it`s too hot for you, it`s too hot for your dog`s paws.
Whenever possible, walk during the early morning or after sunset, stick to grassy areas, or protect their feet with properly fitted dog booties.
A few extra precautions can help keep every walk safe, comfortable, and burn-free!

✨ Moments That Matter ✨
Sometimes the biggest moments start with the smallest clues.
When this sweet patient came to see us, they weren`t feeling their best. After a thorough exam and X-rays, we discovered the cause: bladder stones. These stones can cause pain, frequent urination, blood in the urine, and even life-threatening urinary blockages if left untreated.
From diagnosis to surgery, our team was there every step of the way. We carefully removed the stones, monitored recovery under advanced anesthesia, and made sure our patient was comfortable before heading home.
Every X-ray we take, every diagnosis we make, and every surgery we perform has one goal: giving pets the chance to get back to the life they love.

The Story of Boogie
Chapter 1:
On the morning of February 6th we received a call from a Good Samaritan who had come across an injured cat in the road, struggling for its life. It was presumed this kitty would need to be humanely euthanized and we agreed to do so to alleviate his suffering.
The injured cat was brought in shortly after and it was clear his injuries were life-threatening and his prognosis was grave. His head and face were severely swollen, and his injuries were gruesome. We’ll spare you the gory details but it was not pretty.
We scanned him for a microchip. No chip. He was intact, which increased the likelihood he was a stray. He was critically injured with likely no owner with a slim chance of survival. Seeing him struggle was heart wrenching. Euthanasia seemed like the most humane option. We gave him pain medications, sedated him, and prepared to alleviate his suffering in the most peaceful way possible.
When he was sedated, Dr Whitlock was able to address his wounds more thoroughly. Surprisingly, aside from his head, his body seemed to have little to no trauma. Out of curiosity, we took an X-ray of his chest and body to check for internal injuries. None. Dr Whitlock began to wonder if we could just get the swelling of his head down……
We decided as a team to try. We loaded him up on pain medications, hooked him up to fluids and gave medication to reduce swelling around his brain. It was a Friday, so that evening we made him cozy, set up a ring camera, and crossed our fingers. Right before turning off the lights and leaving, we heard the faintest resemblance of a meow. It was the first sign of real life we’d seen or heard. It was a small glimmer of hope but we still understood this poor kitty’s chances were slim. But so long as we could keep him comfortable, we would try.
