I truly don’t know what I would have done without Dr. Murphy, Dr. Coville, and the entire CityVet team. They have incredibly difficult jobs, but they show up every day with not only professionalism, but genuine compassion and care that goes far beyond what you would expect.
They treat your pet like it’s their own. They laugh with you, take photos with you and your “kids,” and when things take a turn for the worse, they sit with you, cry with you, and support you through some of the hardest moments. They don’t just care for the animals—they care deeply for the people who love them.
They cared for both my dog and my cat for years, and over the past four months, they helped me through the heartbreaking experience of saying goodbye to both of them. I have had pets my entire life and have worked with many vets in different places I’ve lived—but never once has leaving a vet impacted me like this. I cried knowing they would no longer be part of my pets’ lives or mine.

For over two years, I was trying to figure out what was going on with my cat. He was struggling with severe cat acne and what eventually turned into noticeable alopecia. At one point, he had lost most of the fur on his stomach and legs, and after seeing three or more vets with no clear answers, I honestly felt stuck and worried.
Since locking in with City Vet Southtown a little over a year ago, everything changed. Dr. Romero took the time to truly look deeper into what was going on and helped us finally get to the root of it. We discovered it wasn’t just one issue, but a combination of separation anxiety, food sensitivities, and hypoallergenic needs. From there, she built a plan that actually worked.
The transformation in my baby boy has been incredible. Seeing him grow his fur back and become more comfortable and healthy again has been such a relief and honestly emotional after everything we went through.
I also want to highlight how kind and attentive the entire clinic is. Every interaction with the front desk staff and techs has been nothing but warm, informative, and genuinely caring. They remember you and your pets by name, and it really feels like they see your animals as family, not just appointments.
I’m so grateful to be part of the Southtown community and to have found a clinic that actually listens, investigates, and cares on this level. I may not know every staff member’s name, but please know you all have made a real difference in my cat’s life.

Update: Within a couple weeks after spaying my dog, my son brought his young dog in for an ear infection and we brought my daughter’s pup in after suffering a horrific freak accident. Thankfully, she’s received wonderful attention and is healing well. So glad we found Southtown CityVet, Dr. Romeo and her great crew!
From our urgent phone call asking if we could come in—even though Abbey was not an existing patient—to the compassion we were shown from the moment we pulled into the parking lot, their team met us with immediate kindness, empathy, and grace.
On Tuesday, we said goodbye to our 14-year-old dog, Abbey—our Abba, Abba Boo Boo, Boo. I adopted her at 13 weeks old, and she had been by my side through nearly every major chapter of my life. She was family.
Just 51 days earlier, we unexpectedly lost our other dog, Cricket, so our hearts were already carrying tremendous grief. Abbey had also been diagnosed with nasal adenocarcinoma last August and was given only weeks to live—but she gave us eight more beautiful months. We made every single day count.
When her condition suddenly declined, everything happened fast. We had always imagined saying goodbye to her peacefully at home, but life had other plans. We rushed to CityVet because it was less than five minutes away and we were deeply concerned about getting her help quickly.
What we found there were complete strangers who treated our girl—and our family—with such tenderness and dignity during one of the hardest moments of our lives. AJ, Dr. Romeo, and the staff created the most peaceful environment for Abbey’s transition and gave us the space, support, and compassion we needed to say goodbye.
In one of our darkest moments, they brought light.
We will never forget their kindness, and we will always be grateful that Abbey’s final moments were spent surrounded by people who cared so deeply.

Transferred to CityVet Richardson from Oak Lawn after our move and it was a seamless experience.
